Gratitude practice

GRATITUDE PRACTICE

As we have already explored this week, the transitioning of the seasons can be a bumpy journey for us all, and slowing down is to be much encouraged. Now we turn our attention towards focusing in and showing a little gratitude from where we have come, to what we might have, however perceptibly large or small that thing might be. Let us practice a little gratitude.

There are many ways we can practice gratitude. It might be journaling, making lists of ten things you are grateful and thankful for each day or meditation. There is no right or wrong way to practice gratitude, just as long as you take a little time to do this every day, you will soon reap the rewards.

You might have noticed already a subtle shift in the look of the posts and of our website.  Over the course of the last six months, gratitude practice has featured heavily over at Sansaar HQ and as a result, a clear and cleaner focus has emerged to take us forward into the next phase of Sansaar Ayurveda. More on that later, but it is just one example of how practicing gratitude every single day has enabled me to become more focused and clearer on what and where I want my business and lifestyle to be.

A MORNING MEDITATION : GRATITUDE PRACTICE

Settle down to enjoy this gratitude practice, before preparing a comforting cup of cacao to take you into your day.

Cosy and comforting cacao

During the Autumn season Vata accumulates and further weaken the digestive fire also known as the agni.  Ensure you strengthen the agni during this period - this recipe is perfect to get you started.

Recipe

300 ml Oat milk

2/3 cardamom pods crushed

2 cloves

¼ tsp cinnamon

½ tsp maple syrup or coconut sugar

1 tsp of cacao (cocoa is just as nice)

Grated dark chocolate for garnishing

1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Method

Heat all the ingredients (with the exception of the cinnamon stick) together in a small pan over a very low heat simmering for a few minutes.  Remove from the heat and gently whisk.

To serve remove the cardamom pods (using a sieve) pour into a mug and grate some dark chocolate to garnish serving with a cinnamon stick.

Cacao is a wonderful source of magnesium (which many of us are deficient in) and one of the highest plant-based food sources of iron.
